The City of South Miami Parks and Recreation Department (“the Department”) reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or combine classes, events or programs, or change instructors in order to provide the best service possible. In the event the Department cancels an activity or program for any reason, a full refund will be issued.
Refunds may be granted if a cancellation notice is received at least seven (7) days prior to the reserved date of the event start (i.e. if the event is on Saturday, the last day to cancel and receive a refund is Friday, the week prior to the event). No refunds, including the security deposit will be made thereafter.
Refunds may be granted only if adverse weather conditions prevail, or if the cancellation notice is received in writing at least seven (7) days prior to the reserved date of the event or program start. No refunds or credits will be given after this deadline.
Patron refund requests will be granted if requested at least seven (7) days prior to the program, class or activity start date (i.e. if the program starts on Saturday, the last day to cancel and receive a refund is Friday, the week prior to the program start date). Refunds less than seven (7) days prior to the program start date but before the second class or program meeting date, will be granted less a $10 administrative charge. No refund will be offered after the second class or program meeting date.
No refunds or prorating will be offered for classes missed by a participant for any reason other than documented issues/family emergencies. (These may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Director)
Cancellations due to weather or unavoidable circumstances will result in rescheduling. If rescheduling is not possible, a prorated credit refund will be applied to the customer’s account in ReCPro to be used towards registration in future Department programs.
All refunds due to customer cancelation are subject to a $10 administrative charge.
For monthly programs, a prorated refund will be issued for unused months, effective the month after the date of cancellation request. No refunds are given for programs costing less than $20. Refunds may be retained as credits and used towards registration in future Department programs. If not retained as a credit, credit card charges will be refunded directly to the credit card, if possible. All other refunds will be made by check.
No refunds will be offered for daily visits or drop-in visits for Activities.
Refunds may be granted due to equipment failure, or other structural deficiency but shall not be granted for issues related to weather.
